Nina Smith

PhD Student and Researcher

Nina Smith is a PhD researcher at Edge Hill University and a 2023 Churchill Fellow. After 10 years as a primary school teacher, Nina completed a Master’s degree with a focus on school-based suicide prevention strategies and embarked on a new career path in research. She is currently completing a PhD research project, in partnership with British Cycling, Sport England and DCMS, evaluating a place-based capital investment programme. Nina is also continuing her research on school-based suicide prevention strategies, which includes travel to Australia and the USA, to investigate programmes proven to be effective alongside publishing the findings from her MSc thesis.
