Evie Tarbuck
BSc (Hons) Computing (Networks, Cyber Security and Forensics)

My most memorable moment so far has to be completing my first forensic investigation using Autopsy and presenting my findings.
I’ve always had a passion for technology and wanted to help protect people and systems from cyber security threats. I became very interested in by how digital systems work and how vulnerabilities can be exploited or prevented. Edge Hill offered a course that combined my interests in networking, cyber security and digital forensics with great facilities and the support available. While visiting Edge Hill on an offer holder day, the lecturers were very inspiring and committed to helping us secure a career and not just a qualification.
I have developed many skills on this degree, including cyber analysis, forensic investigation and technical report writing. I love the hands-on practical work and learning about how to solve real-world problems.

I really value the supportive teaching staff and the sense of community at Edge Hill. I would advise anyone studying this degree to be prepared with all of the right software and material before class, go over some basic things in your own time. Make the most of the support available at the university.
My favourite place on campus is the Catalyst Building, it’s a great space for studying and collaborating. I get a lot of my assignments done in there. I’ve felt really supported throughout my degree through my helpful tutors, the career services and great access to facilities that other universities do not have.
I hope to work as a cyber security analyst or digital forensics specialist in the public or private sector.
