Biography

Jay is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Business Management and Data Analytics in the Department of Sport and Physical Activity. Institutionally, Jay is a member of the Science Research Ethics Committee (ScREC). 

Before joining Edge Hill University, Jay worked as a Lecturer in Performance Analysis at St Mary’s University, London (2022-2024) and a Data Scientist for Bath Rugby (2019-2022) in relation to his PhD.

Jay possesses significant experience in the manufacturing industry, having worked as a Research and Innovation Manager (2016-2019), Research and Innovation Engineer (2015-2016) and Product Development Engineer (2013-2015) for MAS Holdings (Pvt) Ltd (the largest apparel manufacturer in South Asia). In those roles, he developed wearable products to renowned global apparel brands and led innovation teams to design, develop and implement strategic automation, IoT and digital transformation projects within apparel manufacturing factories situated across the Asian region. 

Jay is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in the UK, a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Research Interests

Jay’s research focuses on digitally optimising information flows required for athlete management decision-making processes, development of wearable technologies for sport applications and extracting (and communicating) insights from sports performance data using data analytics/science techniques. Additionally, Jay has a strong interest in sports innovation and the introduction of process improvement methods (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, BPM) to sports. 

Teaching

Jay currently teaches on the BSc (Hons) in Sport Management programme.
