Biography

Helen is Associate Dean in the Faculty of Education with strategic responsibility for the student journey and all external relationships nationally and internationally. 

Research Interests

Helen’s research is grounded in inclusion and social justice 

Her research and publications are focussed on children and families affected by imprisonment and their engagement with education in all forms.

She is co-lead for the multi award winning programme Tackling the Blues which is a prevention and early intervention mental health programme for children and young people, delivered in partnership with Everton in the Community and Tate Liverpool. This has recently been awarded the Educate North Mental Health and Wellbeing award and the North West Coast Research and Innovation award for Tackling Health Inequalities. 

Teaching

Helen supervises PhDs in the areas of social justice in education, children and families affected by imprisonment and children’s mental health and wellbeing in education, sport and the arts.
