Biography

Claire’s research interests include primary computing education, cyberbullying, adolescents’ use of social media, use of generative artifical intelligence in HE, and using participatory methods. Claire is currently co-leader for the Curriculum and Pedagogy Research Network. She is a representative for the Primary and Childhood Education department on the Faculty Research Ethics Committee. Claire supervises doctoral candidates. 

Claire teaches on the computing modules in the Department for Primary and Childhood Education for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She is Strand Leader for Primary Computing and Subject Leader for Primary Foundation Subjects. Claire is also Senior SOLSTICE Fellowship Lead for the Faculty of Education, focusing on how technology can support teaching and learning.

Claire was previously a Senior Lecturer in ICT/ Computing Education for the Secondary Department, Faculty of Education.  She has also held the role of Course Leader for undergraduate and postgraduate Information and Communications Technology courses with QTS*; Course Leader for the Computer Science with QTS* undergraduate course; and Year 3 Leader for the BA/ BSc (Hons) Secondary Education with QTS* programme. Claire came to Edge Hill University from teaching ICT at secondary level. Before becoming an ICT teacher, she worked in business developing and delivering services, training and consultancy.
