Outstanding Teaching – TEF Gold

Students being taught in a room in Edge Hill University's Catalyst buildingEdge Hill University holds the TEF Gold award. TEF Gold is the highest rating in the national Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). The award highlights Edge Hill’s ‘consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students’.

The 2019 awards recognised just 28 per cent of institutions as being gold standard.

We are just one of three universities in the North West to hold the Gold award. There are also silver, bronze and provisional awards.

The TEF Gold award indicates that teaching at Edge Hill is of ‘the highest quality found in the UK.’

The specific findings indicate that our “students from diverse backgrounds achieve consistently outstanding outcomes”. Also, that “very high proportions of students continue with their studies and progress to employment or further study.”

The findings also acknowledge “very high levels of student satisfaction with ‘teaching on my course’ and outstanding levels of satisfaction with ‘assessment and feedback’, and ‘academic support’, notably exceeding the provider benchmark.

You can read more about the specific findings on our TEF Gold results page, or look at the statement on the Office for Students website.

And to put this into context, you can read more about how and why we received this award on our TEF Gold explained page.
