“I studied my undergraduate at Edge Hill and because of the support from tutors and the services provided I wanted to complete my PGCE there. This was definitely the right choice, the course has provided brilliant CPD training like first aid courses and child protection courses as well as opportunities to visit a Forest School and SEND schools – these opportunities will help me get a teaching job at the end of the year. Every school placement I have had here, I’ve absolutely loved and even had the opportunity to do a distance placement and visited the Isle of Man for 6 weeks with paid transport and accommodation. I would definitely recommend anyone to study their PGCE at Edge Hill.”

“The best aspect of Edge Hill University for me is the campus itself. The gorgeous gardens and communal areas make being at University a very pleasant experience. Staff are also extremely supportive, and there are plenty of tools and resources in place to support students with their various needs and problems, should they have any.”
– Diana Wiedemann, Whatuni
“I’ve been at Edge Hill since 2019. Originally I was studying adult nursing, but unfortunately I had a bad accident, which led to me not being able to continue my nursing career. I contacted Edge Hill once I felt ready to return to education to see what my options were. The staff were really understanding and supportive, and gave me an appointment with student support. The advisor talked me through everything, and discussed my options. She was kind & understanding. I returned to study at Edge Hill in September 2022, and enrolled on BSc Psychology and Criminology. The department were supportive and organised a meeting for me with the department head to explain everything and what support was available if I needed it. Edge Hill has become like an extension of my family. The staff are second to none and the student facilities are great. The campus is accessible to people like me, who need that extra help. I can’t thank them enough for helping me return to education and focus on a new career path.”
Katie M, Uni Compare
“I love it at Edge Hill. The campus has a very warm and friendly atmosphere an everyone is so nice. The accommodation is brilliant and it’s very easy to get into Ormskirk centre when living on campus. I love my course and there is so much support available should you need it both academically and with living away from home for the first time.”
– Alice, Whatuni
“My transition to Edge Hill was made easy and the staff / student body are incredible. They have a variety of societies, events and opportunities to try new skills. There is lots of encouragement to take part and there is lots of support offered for anything you could imagine or need.”
Amber N, Uni Compare
“Edge Hill university campus is where I lived for a year. This was one of the most memorable years of my life and was place I called home for a time. My lecturers were always a 5 minute walk away during the working week. With campus becoming all the busy at the weekend with such an amazing nightlife buzz. The academic staff and lecturers were always so helpful and supportive for that year and the rest of the years of my degree. I look back at Edge Hill and see nothing but happy memories, new beginnings, and lifelong treasured friendships.”
Harry G, Uni Compare
The course is taught in a perfect ratio of contact and non contact hours, the placement is a perfect element of the course, giving us the opportunity to explore specialist schools and learning with children with SEND. The courses modules fit perfectly with the prospects of the degree, and as someone’s who’s been wanting to study this for a while it has met my expectations.
