Jay Cullen outside the Bloomberg Suite

“It was highly rewarding to see our Bloomberg Terminal Suite launched at Edge Hill University Business School. The Bloomberg Terminal will allow students and trainee practitioners alike to immerse themselves in financial markets, including engaging in real time trading through ‘simulated’ practice accounts, thereby getting used to authentic market trading conditions. It will also allow students to gain certification in a number of different areas, including in Finance Fundamentals, Market Concepts, and ESG.”

Professor Jay Cullen, Director of the Business School

Staff and students came together to celebrate the hard work and dedication of Edge Hill University’s Business School at the Bloomberg Terminal Suite launch event. As a highly valued addition to the Business School, the Suite provides students with access to financial data, analytics, and news, essential for deepening their understanding of financial markets and how economic and external events impact business performance. Bloomberg’s courses and certifications enhance employability, giving students a competitive edge for internships and job opportunities in the financial industry.

“I think it is useful for the students that they are getting immersed with something that 300,000 market participants use, and they’ll get exposure to the workflows of the people that already work in finance. When it comes to interviews, they’ll be able to speak to the interviewer about things that they may not have had access to previously.”

Max Weir, Bloomberg Analytics Department

“Edge Hill will be celebrating the launch of the Terminal through the Trading Challenge, a chance to compete globally by managing simulated investment portfolios using the Bloomberg Terminal. Edge Hill University has entered 4 teams into the 2024 Challenge with students gaining real-world trading experience, applying advanced market analysis, and developing investment strategies.”
