The shortlisted entries highlight Edge Hill’s commitment to a positive student experience, encompassing diversity, community engagement, and fostering a strong student and alumni connection.
Liam Owens, Pro Vice-Chancellor Marketing, Student Recruitment and Student Administration said: “These award nominations are a testament to the Edge Hill community’s dedication to inspire minds and change futures, extending far beyond the lecture theatre. They celebrate diversity and build a strong sense of community, aligning perfectly with our core values.
“We’re thrilled to be recognised for our commitment to creating a positive and impactful experience that empowers students to not only excel academically, but also embrace challenges, act responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to the world.”
The shortlisted campaigns include:
- Black History Month Programme (nominated for Best Event Experience): Aimed to create a sense of belonging for students, staff and the wider community through a series of events and activities celebrating Black history and culture. This aligns with Edge Hill’s longstanding focus on widening participation.
- LancsCAN – Bringing the Community Together to Support Climate Action Initiative (nominated for Best Community Initiative): Demonstrating Edge Hill’s commitment to social responsibility by bringing people together to advance the sustainability agenda across Lancashire. This culminated in the establishment of the new Lancashire Community Climate Action Network (LancsCAN).
- Celebrating 90 Years in Ormskirk Campaign (nominated for Best Student or Alumni Engagement Campaign): Went beyond simply marking an anniversary by highlighting the rich history of the Ormskirk campus and fostering a deeper connection between students, alumni, and the institution.
The nominations build on the University’s recent achievements including a top 35 position in the Guardian University Guide 2024, being placed one of the top four universities in the North West in the Complete University Guide 2025 and a grade of ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for the entire teacher training provision. This is in addition to being named as Best Student Home 2024, placed first for ‘best moving in experience’ and reaching the top three in the UK for facilities.
The University continues to invest in the student experience, including opening in 2024 new student accommodation, alongside a new Students’ Union and Life Sciences building as part of a £53m campus development.
