In an era of environmental and social transformations, our world faces complex health challenges. Despite increasing life expectancy, many, especially in deprived areas, live a third of their lives with chronic conditions. Mental ill-health is notably prevalent among children and young people. The NHS and global healthcare systems are under pressure, highlighting the need for innovative, non-clinical approaches to promote health and resilience.
This lecture explores nature’s potential to enhance wellbeing and mental health alongside traditional medical approaches, addressing critical questions: How can we build resilience through nature in the Anthropocene era? What strategies maximize nature’s benefits for all? Can we envision a ‘Natural Health Service’?
