The Hillsborough Law – In Conversation with Ian Byrne MP

Join the History, Geography and Social Sciences (HiGSS) Department on Friday 21 April for an In Conversation event with Ian Byrne MP for Liverpool and West Derby. Ian Byrne MP, himself a survivor of Hillsborough will discuss the need for the proposed Public Authorities (Accountability) Bill- popularly known as the Hillsborough Law.

The proposed law would create a new legal duty of candour on public authorities and officials to tell the truth and proactively cooperate with official investigations and inquiries. It would also ensure victims of disasters or state-related deaths are entitled to parity of legal representation during inquests and inquiries.
