The Athena Swan Charter is a framework which is used across the globe to support and transform gender equality within higher education and research. Institutions and departments can apply for an award Athena Swan award to gain recognition for their commitment to creating a gender-inclusive culture. Submissions include an evaluation of policies, processes, and practices with the aim of developing an action plan to facilitate a gender-inclusive culture. The University’s Equality, Diversity and inclusion Steering Group oversee the development of submissions and implementation of the action plan.
