We are suspending uploads to the National Teaching Repository with effect from 30 June 2025.
The National Teaching Repository (NTR) has grown exponentially over the last few years and is a trusted and valuable repository for open educational resources. The NTR is hosted and managed by Edge Hill University.
Sadly, we have not been able to secure external funding to continue the NTR.
Your NTR resources remain accessible.
Please be reassured that all materials in the NTR will remain in Edge Hill Figshare, will keep their permanent DOIs, and will continue to be discoverable and accessible via online searches, just as they are currently. However, you will not be able to update or change entries or to add new items to the NTR.
We are exploring possible options to build on the fantastic work started by the NTR, but we are unable to manage and curate uploads in the meantime. We will post here any information about new opportunities for making your educational resources available.
Alternative options for your new educational resources:
Create a personal Figshare.com or Zenodo account and upload your items there. Remember to add lots of keywords and to link to any related items in the NTR to help with discoverability.
Some institutional repositories have open educational resources sections – ask your Library for more information.
More about the National Teaching Repository
Disseminating tried and tested ideas that work.
The NTR is an open access, online, searchable repository of open educational resources. Its aim is to have a positive impact on teaching and learning by disseminating effective interventions that lead to real improvements for students. It was established by Professor Dawne Irving-Bell in 2020 with initial funding from Advance HE and is hosted by Edge Hill University within its Figshare repository.
Through the NTR, educators in Higher Education institutions across the UK have shared teaching resources, pedagogical research, approaches and ideas and showcased their practice in a range of formats. Resources in the NTR include lesson plans, games, reports, videos, images, posters, presentations, and more.
Anyone can search the NTR to access hands-on, practical ideas and resources, off the shelf ready to use or to adapt for implementation in their own settings, subject to the creative commons licence assigned to them.
