Assistive technology

From proofreading and note-taking, to planning written work, Assistive Technology (AT) can support you in developing your study skills strategies. These technologies are available to all students on campus and can be useful tools to support your learning.

Where to find the software

Click on the Windows Start button and start to type the name of the software you would like to use then select as the icon appears.

If you would like to learn more about how these technologies can be useful please book onto one of the UniSkills sessions and the team would be happy to help.

Read and Write

Read and Write is text to speech software that will enable you to listen to your work and hear any possible errors, this can be a useful tool when proofreading and editing.

This software has a range of helpful tools that can support you in developing your strategies and ways of working such as an enhanced spellchecker and screen tinting tool.

Inspiration

Inspiration software is a mindmapping tool which is ideal for ideation and organising your thoughts to create detailed plans that can support you with your academic writing.

Inspiration is free to use for Edge Hill staff and students.

Inspiration does not currently support Chromebooks or Apple products.
