Each year on 10th October we celebrate World Mental Health Day. To celebrate the day with our students this year, we are placing a personal development book in all kitchens on campus and giving away free copies to those who reside off-campus.
‘A Path Through the Jungle’ was written by Professor Steve Peters. The book is structured into eight stages, each one dedicated to different elements of personal growth, increasing happiness, and managing stress. It takes a fresh approach on ways to help you put yourself in a good mindset, how to counteract negative thoughts, and how to increase self-confidence.
Professor Steve Peters is a medical doctor who specialises in the functioning of the mind. He created the ground-breaking Chimp Model whilst teaching at The University of Sheffield. The mind management model simplifies the neuroscience of the mind and helps people to understand and manage their emotions more effectively. Professor Peters has introduced The Model to more than 20 different sports outfits, including England Rugby, England Football, GB Cycling and Liverpool Football Club. He has also worked closely with Ronnie O’Sullivan and Katerina Johnson-Thompson.
