Who is this module for?
This module can only be studied as part of the MSc Surgical Care Practice.
What are the key aims of the module?
The aim of this module is to bridge the theory-to-practice interface which is crucial to evidencing that a TSCP exiting with an MSc Surgical Care Practice has achieved the specialty-specific SCP CiPs defined in phase 2 of the Curriculum Framework for the Surgical Care Practitioner.
What will I study?
The e-portfolio is embedded in the curriculum and is the vehicle for promoting and recording the experiences and formative assessment/feedback on WPL that allows practitioners to develop capabilities that are sustainable for changeability, improvability and responsiveness commensurate with the requirements of a qualified SCP. The attainment of both competence and capability is important, for this phase of the programme in speciality-specific SCP skills, requiring TSCPs to develop critical insight into their competence and capability in pre/peri, intra and postoperative surgical care and to apply this successfully and to flexibly adapt to unfamiliar professional environments, within a safe governance framework, with clearly defined roles and boundaries.
How will I be assessed?
e-portfolio of clinical skills and capabilities using the PebblePad platform to collect evidence of competence.
This e-portfolio is PASS/FAIL and does not contribute to the overall weighted module mark.
On successful completion you will:
Consistently demonstrate the speciality-specific clinical and technical Capabilities in Practice required of a trainee surgical care practitioner defined in phase 2 of the Curriculum Framework for the Surgical Care Practitioner.
