The town will come alive with the sound of musical theatre as students from the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre programme present a celebration of the genre performed with a full live orchestra on Friday 1 May, 7.30pm.
Following the success of December’s sold-out Christmas carol concert, this highly anticipated performance will continue the University’s ambition to engage local audiences through high-quality live performance.

Nicholas Sanders, Programme Leader for Musical Theatre at Edge Hill University, said: “Following the incredible response to last year’s Christmas Concert, we are thrilled to be returning to Ormskirk with another community-focused event.
“‘This Is the Moment’ is about sharing the power and emotional impact of musical theatre in its fullest form, with a live orchestra and a company of exceptional emerging performers.
“It’s also a celebration of the connection between our students and the community we are proud to be part of.”
Audiences can expect a programme of iconic songs with Ormskirk Parish Church providing a striking setting for the evening, enhancing the full sound and spectacle of musical theatre.
The production features an all-female cast of nine final-year musical theatre students. Representing the entire graduating class, these performers have spent months preparing for this landmark showcase.

Jennifer Wren, third year Musical Theatre student, said: “I feel like this show is the ultimate finale; the last three years have all led to this. My growth during my time at Edge Hill has been phenomenal and it’s about more than just this past year.
“With the songs I’ve been given, I feel challenged and able to showcase everything I’ve learned, not only as an individual performer but as part of this entire class.”
Reflecting on the unique venue, third year performer Ria Marbeck said: “It’s fantastic to be performing for the local community in a way we haven’t done before.
“While the theatres on campus are great, stepping into a new, historic space like the parish church is a brilliant experience. The scale of the church is much larger than a traditional theatre, so performing to such a big audience in a different atmosphere is going to be a real highlight of the year.”
