My best advice for anyone else going through Clearing is that everything will work out. Whether the grades received were not as expected or you have a change of heart, take the opportunity, you never know it could turn out to be the best decision of your life.

Why did you enter Clearing?

My clearing experience wasn’t the most traditional. As I only took 2 A-Levels, in September I returned to Sixth Form to complete the final year of my 3rd A-Level thinking I couldn’t get into university with the results I had. When I got back to college, the initial plan for my timetable and studies was changed and felt very unproductive, so I started researching universities – mostly for entry the following year – but many still had Clearing adverts up which encouraged me to look into this further.

Edge Hill was one of the universities I was researching and I decided to enquire to see if I could get in with the A-Levels I had. When I accepted it was surreal, my entire world was about to change. I left college that day and the following week, I was packed up and moving to university 150-miles away from home – and the next day was the start of welcome week!

What was your perception of Clearing before you you went through it?

I didn’t know a lot about what Clearing actually was, or what I needed to do.

What factors made you apply for the course you chose?

I knew I wanted to study psychology, and I had previously researched many options for psychology degrees across the country, including at Edge Hill. I liked the option to chose modules in third year while still being taught the essential information which provides a general basis for psychology education.

Have you enjoyed your course and time at University so far?

I have enjoyed my course a lot this year and I have made some amazing friends. I have loved university this year, despite personal challenges, and I am very excited to return for next year.

How did you find the Clearing application process?

It was very easy and simple to apply via Clearing I don’t think I faced any issues at all. I applied and got my offer within a few days.

What advice would you give to students who are going through Clearing?

My best advice for anyone else going through Clearing is that everything will work out. Whether the grades received were not as expected or you have a change of heart, take the opportunity, you never know it could turn out to be the best decision of your life.
