Biography

Dr Clare Kinsella is Associate Head of School for Student Experience within th School of Law and Criminal Justice. She graduated from Lancaster University with a BA (Hons) in Critical Criminology and Women’s Studies, and an MA in Criminology, Rights and Justice. She was awarded a PhD for defending her thesis, entitled “Tourists in our own city’: Meanings of home in a regenerating city’, by The University of Liverpool in 2018.

Clare’s research interests include cities, particularly Liverpool; home and homelessness; place, space and regeneration; policing; fear of crime; and gender, sexuality and crime. She has published in these areas, and has delivered conference papers nationally and internationally. 

Clare has been teaching at the University for over 20 years, and currently teaches mostly at Levels 5 and 6. She is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (formerly the Higher Education Academy) and the European Group for the Study of Deviance and Social Control. Among her other interests, Clare is passionate about supporting students to develop their resilience, and has created an extra curricular programme to facilitate this.
