The Arts Centre is open to all Edge Hill University students and has an exciting mix of performances, films, gigs, theatre, comedy and events throughout the year, as well as a great bar and café. As an Edge Hill University student you receive free tickets for The Arts Centre through our free EHU student membership scheme.

Our Careers team can advise on the range of employment opportunities and career paths open to you with your degree choice. This includes information about our 24-hour security, the free Edge Link Bus and our 8 food outlets across campus offering a variety of places to eat and drink during your studies. For residents, you can find out more about housekeeping, maintenance, post collection, living sustainably and our dedicated helpdesk who are on hand to help with any issues you may encounter with our facilities.

The Sports Centre provides a wide range of sport and physical activities, both competitive (Team Edge Hill) and recreational (Campus Sport), as well as opportunities for volunteering or paid employment. Our facilities include a 25 metre swimming pool, an 80 station fitness suite, 50 weekly classes, a sauna and steam suite and a double sports hall. Outdoors you will find multiple ‘All Weather’ pitches, 5 grass pitches and an athletics track. So, whatever your level or motivation, Edge Hill Sport is the place for you. Moving away from home or starting a new adventure can sometimes come with its own stresses and strains but the Health and Wellbeing team are here to support you. During your time at Edge Hill, you can benefit from their support network including a 24 hour campus support service. Staff are able to provide advice and guidance throughout your time here on any mental or physical wellbeing concerns, general issues such as diet, exercise, local GP and dental services and access to other services such as counselling support.

Speak to someone in the Language Centre if your target degree is in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and you wish to study an optional module in a language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, Italian or German). Extracurricular evening language classes are also offered to all students. Information about free English language support classes is available for students whose first language is not English.

Learning Services incorporates Library services, Media and ICT support, Learning Technology Development (LTD), support with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) such as Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, Irlen Syndrome and ADHD and academic study skills (UniSkills). A sandwich placement is a year working in industry taken by students between the second and third year of a degree. For students, the aim is to build, develop and apply their skills as acquired through their degree in order to improve their employment prospects once they graduate.

A short-term placement usually takes place during the second year and can run over a number of weeks or months depending on the course requirements. Short-term placements are either compulsory or optional depending on the chosen course module and are unpaid. For students the aim is to gain work experience related to their studies and career pathways.

At Edge Hill University we provide a diverse set of events across the academic calendar to allow our students to thrive. These include activities during induction such as those linked to the Big Read as well as hundreds of extracurricular opportunities that help our students get the extra edge.
