I found criminology at Edge Hill to be inspiring and thought-provoking. Get involved, ask questions, and don’t shy away from debate, the skills you develop, from research to communication, will give you a solid foundation for whatever career path you choose.
My degree equipped me with a strong grasp of criminology and its real-world applications, while developing essential transferable skills such as confidence, critical thinking, and research that are central to my work as a lecturer and researcher.
I loved the interactive discussions and debates that challenged my thinking. I also made close friends during my degree, and many of those friendships have lasted well beyond graduation.
The Careers Team provided guidance on pathways in academia and beyond. The drop-in sessions helped me identify transferable skills and prepare for my current role in higher education.
My passion for learning, criminology, and supporting other students motivated me to become a lecturer. I’m now also completing my PhD which allows me to continue exploring topics I’m passionate about. A typical day for me now involves preparing and delivering online lectures, supporting students’ learning remotely, assessing their work, developing resources, using technology and communication skills to engage learners worldwide.
