Biography
Background
Steve Phillips is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy, having joined the department in January 2025.
Steve graduated from Edge Hill in 2010 with a Sports Science degree and then re-trained as a Physiotherapist at the University of Salford, graduating in 2016, before completing his MSc in Advanced Physiotherapy in 2023.
Steve began his career working in the NHS and then migrated into the world of football, holding the position of Head Physio at Salford City, Head of Performance at Crewe Alexandra and finally Head Physio for Everton’s Women’s Team, before coming full circle and re-joining Edge Hill as a Senior Lecturer.
Research Interest
Steve’s research interests are unsurprisingly, given his background, in lower limb injuries, particularly knee injuries and injuries to the Calf/Achilles complex.
