Biography

Professor Neil Morris is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Success) at Edge Hill University. As a member of the University Executive Board, he provides strategic leadership for education, student success, academic quality, curriculum development and the wider student experience.

Neil joined Edge Hill University in 2025 as Interim Director of Digital Transformation, where he led the development of the University’s digital strategy, established the Digital, Data and Technology Service, and oversaw major institutional transformation initiatives including the Student Records System programme. He was appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Success) in 2026.

Prior to joining Edge Hill, Neil held a range of senior executive and academic leadership positions across the higher education sector. These included Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) at the University of the West of Scotland, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Digital Transformation) at the University of Leeds, and Director of Digital Learning and Dean of Digital Education at Leeds. He has also advised universities, governments and education technology organisations internationally through his consultancy work.

A recognised leader in higher education innovation and transformation, Neil’s expertise spans student success, curriculum enhancement, digital education, organisational change and strategic leadership. He has led major institutional initiatives focused on improving educational quality, access, inclusion and student outcomes across the UK higher education sector.

Neil holds a PhD in Physiology from the University of Leeds and is a Principal Fellow of Advance HE. He is an award-winning educator, a National Teaching Fellow and an internationally recognised researcher in higher education and educational technology.
