For me, the best thing about studying at Edge Hill was the outstanding level of support available to students. I consistently found the support to be exceptional, both academically and pastorally.

I had a long journey to be on the course I am. I previously started studying medicine at a different university and after 2 years realised it wasn’t for me. I decided to follow my love for maths and pursue accounting, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. My favourite part of accounting is financial reporting and understanding how businesses communicate their financial performance. This interest has strengthened my ambition to build a career in auditing and become a chartered accountant.

My time at Edge Hill University has been a really positive experience. The welcoming environment, supportive lecturers and opportunities available have helped me grow both personally and academically. The campus is beautiful too. My favourite place to be was the library. It’s a great place to study and be with friends and it has a great coffee shop which makes it even better!

Throughout my degree, I developed a range of skills, particularly critical thinking, which proved valuable when applying for graduate positions. I also completed advanced Excel and Sage qualifications, participated in the ACCA Advantage Mentorship programme and undertook an external HR consultancy placement. These opportunities allowed me to gain valuable industry insights, develop practical skills and build confidence. My advice to other students is to make the most of the opportunities available at university, as they can play an important role in both personal development and future career success. I’m grateful to Edge Hill for providing me with these experiences.

For me, the best thing about studying at Edge Hill was the outstanding level of support available to students. I consistently found the support to be exceptional, both academically and pastorally. Whether I needed help with coursework, understanding complex topics, or njust someone to talk to during difficult times, the staff were always approachable, friendly, and genuinely invested in your success. Knowing that there’s always someone willing to listen or lend a hand made a huge difference in my overall university experience.

I graduated with a first-class degree in accounting and achieved 86% in my dissertation, which explored finances and competitive advantage Formula 1. I was also recognised on the Business School’s Role of Honour. I couldn’t have earned these achievements without the support and guidance I received from Edge Hill and the accountancy lecturers.

A major highlight of my university journey has been securing a graduate offer with PwC. Having discovered the opportunity through Edge Hill’s Careers Team, I successfully completed the PwC Women in Business programme. Following this experience, I was delighted to receive an offer to join PwC as an Audit Associate in Manchester in September 2027. I’m looking forward to beginning my career, developing my professional skills and working towards the ICAEW ACA qualification.

I would advise anyone studying this course at Edge Hill to make use of the opportunities that are available. There are a lot that are presented to you and if you make the most of them you can really advance and learn a lot.
