BSc (Hons) Biology

Emily Webber

There have been multiple opportunities for me to travel and study abroad. This is through both field trips, where we gained experience of common data collection techniques, as well as with study abroad, where I was able to study in Mexico for the summer.

My favourite part about this degree is the hands-on experience of different lab techniques that I have been able to undertake throughout my studies. From learning how to use Electron microscopes, to studying different culture techniques, and gaining hands on experience of various cell staining, these are all techniques that have been fascinating to learn and will help me gain a job in the future.

There have been multiple opportunities for me to travel and study abroad. This is through both field trips, where we gained experience of common data collection techniques, as well as with study abroad, where I was able to study in Mexico for the summer. These experiences have massively enhanced my employability, as they have allowed me to improve key skills such as teamwork, communication, organisation and much more.

When I graduate, I hope to complete a Masters degree and then potentially a PHD. In the future, I aspire to be a lecturer in biology.

I really enjoy the many different societies at Edge Hill, there is something for everyone. I personally enjoy attending both the Biosciences and Revision society.

The Careers team at Edge Hill have massively helped me both within my studies and at personal appointments. They have helped me direct my careers research and given me many helpful pointers for writing CVs and Cover letters.
