Profile
Biography
I am passionate about ‘all things’ Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC), particularly literacy, early reading and working with under-threes. I am a strong advocate for babies and under-threes.
My research interests are literacy, early reading, policy and pedagogy and under-threes. I am also intersted in child development, play and inclusion.
I have been working in the ECEC field for over 40 years as a practitioner/teacher/researcher, initially as an NNEB in nursery settings. Later in a wide range of schools/settings as a teacher/Senior Leader.
I was Chair of TACTYC for 4 years and a member of BERA and EECERA. I am a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and a board member of the new Early Years Hub. I am also a Senior Fellow of the HEA.
I have presented at many international conferences on the subject of ‘early reading with under-threes’.
As a member of many international organisations, I am able to continue to advocate for the field of ECEC.
