The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Preparation course has helped to build my confidence in leading full classes, small groups and supporting pupils more independently during lessons.

What motivated you to pursue HLTA status?
I wanted to develop my skills further and take on more responsibility in supporting pupils’ learning. I felt that HLTA status was something I needed in my role as Academic Mentor and wanted to make a bigger contribution in the classroom.

What did you find most valuable about the course?
The most valuable part was reflecting on my own practice and recognising the skills I already use in school. It also gave me useful ideas and strategies that I can apply in the classroom.

How has completing the HLTA Preparation Course changed your practice in school so far?
It has made me more confident in supporting learning and adapting activities for different pupils. I am also more aware of how I can help pupils become more independent.

What impact do you feel HLTA status will have on your role or responsibilities, colleagues and whole school priorities?
I think it will allow me to take on more responsibility, support teachers more effectively and help ensure pupils get the support they need to succeed.

How has the course influenced your confidence in leading learning or supporting pupils?
The course has helped build my confidence in leading full classes , small groups and supporting pupils more independently during lessons.

What new opportunities or responsibilities are you hoping to take on as a HLTA?
I would like to lead more full class and small group work, support interventions and help cover lessons when needed.

What advice would you give future candidates considering the HLTA route?
Believe in your experience and the skills you already have. Stay organised and use the course as a chance to reflect on everything you do in school.

In one sentence, how would you describe your HLTA journey?
A positive experience that has helped me grow in confidence and develop professionally.
