Biography

Danielle is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant working in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine at Edge Hill University. Her research focuses on how children, young people, parents and health professionals understand and manage chronic health conditions, particularly chronic pain.

She is currently working on a project with children and young people with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and their parent/carers to explore their understanding and experiences of managing nutrition and to co-design nutritional information resources.

Danielle completed her PhD in Health Psychology at the University of Manchester in September 2024. Her PhD explored how children, young people and healthcare professionals conceptualised chronic pain experiences using psychological theory, including the Common Sense Self-Regulation Model. She previously obtained her degree in Psychology at the University of Liverpool in 2019 and in 2020 was awarded her MSc degree in Neuroimaging for Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Manchester.

Research Interests

Danielle’s research interests include health psychology, health beliefs, the assessment, communication and management of long-term paediatric health conditions and pain, and mixed methodology.
