Biography

Dr Chris Doran joined Edge Hill University in the summer of 2021 as a Senior Lecturer in Business and Management. Chris teaches a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate business modules, including Graduate Enterprise, International Business and Research Methods.

Dr Doran has a number of operational roles within the University. He is the Year Head lead for the Business and Management Programme for first year students. He is also the Co-chair for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) which encompasses the induction of sustainability in university curriculum. Chris is also the Business School representative for the following University level committees: Academic Quality Enhancement Committee (AQEC) and the Regulations Reviews Sub-Committee (RRSC).

Prior to joining Edge Hill Business School, Chris was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford for 15 years where he held a number of management roles. These included: Department Head of the HRM And Strategy Subject Group within Salford Business School, University Chair for Research Ethics, Development Lead for University Strategy implementation and a committee member of the Assessment Forum.

External roles have included being an elected member of the steering committee for the United Nations UK Chapter of the Principles for Responsible Management in Education. (UK PRME) 2017-2021, where Chris implemented seven local networks across the UK to deliver sustainability within over fifty higher educational institutions.

Research Interests

Main research areas are as follows:

  • Ethical Codes of Conduct in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
  • Teaching Methodologies, Strategies and Curriculum Design in the Delivery of Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Business Ethics Courses in the United States and the U.K.
  • The implementation of Biophilic design in the workplace as an employee engagement strategy.
  • Sustainability of Universities and their strategy for the inclusion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • The use of vignettes as a methodological tool in business ethics areas.
