If I had to describe my time at Edge Hill University in one word, it would be fantastic.

I’m from Nigeria, and I chose Edge Hill University because I wanted to have a solid knowledge of technology.

I chose Computing because the course exposes me to emerging technologies and equips me with the required knowledge and skills to be employable and to build technical solutions. Studying my course at Edge Hill has been great I’ve already gained a lot, and I’m hoping to gain even more as I progress.

What really stands out to me is the availability of tools and resources that support further study and independent learning. The university also provides good support. When my laptop was faulty, I used the laptop loan service, which saved me a lot of stress and downtime.

Campus life at Edge Hill is fun. There’s always an event happening, which keeps the environment and learning lively. My favourite place on campus is Catalyst, everything you need is there. I love Catalyst so much that sometimes I stay there until the next day.

One challenge I faced was when I forgot my bank card at home and couldn’t use my phone to tap for transport while travelling from Ormskirk to Preston. There was no way to pay or transfer money, so I had to order an Uber, which was expensive. It taught me an important lesson about being prepared and I later made sure I could use mobile payment like other students.

I hope to become a software engineer, and I believe my time at Edge Hill University is equipping me with what I need to achieve that goal. So far, I’ve learned programming, computing systems, databases, and emerging technologies, which are a good starting point for my future career.

My advice to new or prospective students is that Edge Hill University is one of the best places to turn your dreams into reality. The university has qualified staff and great resources that make the education journey hassle-free.

One thing I wish I knew before starting is that getting a job in the UK is not as easy as it seems, it’s important to prepare early.
