The event provided an invaluable evening of inspiration, networking and professional development. Organised by the School of Law and Criminal Justice, the panel showcased the diverse and successful career paths pursued by Edge Hill alumni. This year’s speakers included:
- Chloe Moran – Public Law and Human Rights Solicitor, Irwin Mitchell (Class of 2022)
- Faye Morris – Paralegal at Weightmans and Chair of the Merseyside Junior Lawyers Division (Class of 2021)
- Anthony Hutchinson – Employment Law and Civil Litigation Specialist, Liverpool City Council (Class of 2020)
- Amanda Shepherd – Criminal Defence Lawyer and Military Law Specialist, Managing Director at E&L Legal (Class of 2017)
- Gareth Farrelly – Former professional footballer, now working in Commercial Litigation and Sports Law (Class of 2012)
Students at the start of their degree to final-year students preparing for the transition into professional employment attended the event. The panel discussed their routes from university to practice, the realities of working in the legal sector, and the resilience, skills, and mindset needed to succeed.
Each graduate brought a unique perspective shaped by their journey since Edge Hill.
Chloe Moran spoke about her work in the Court of Protection, supporting clients in complex Public Law and Human Rights cases and the importance of confidence, compassion, and strong communication skills in legal practice.
Faye Morris shared how her involvement in extracurricular activities, competitions, and careers support during her degree helped her build the skills that now underpin her work defending litigation for insurer and private clients at Weightmans. She also discussed her leadership role within the Merseyside Junior Lawyers Division and her commitment to supporting aspiring legal professionals.
The event showcased the strength of Edge Hill’s legal community, where alumni remain committed to returning, sharing their experiences and supporting those following in their footsteps.
Jen Giblin praised the alumni for their continued involvement, she said: “Our annual alumni panel event is an opportunity for our current students to discover where their law degree can take them. We are very grateful to our wonderful alumni community for supporting the next generation of Edge Hill Law students.”
With graduates making an impact across law firms, public services, specialist legal sectors, and beyond, the event once again demonstrated the breadth of ambition and achievement among Edge Hill alumni.
