Once your student has applied to their chosen universities and started to receive offers, you will start to see invites to offer holder days coming through (look out for Edge Hill’s golden ticket!).

Offer holder days are exclusive events for applicants offered by universities to help students get more of a feel for their course and what student life is really like through a range of activities, talks and presentations.

Why should students go to an offer holder day?

Offer holder days help students make a well-informed, personal choice about where they’ll thrive. It gives students the chance to take part in a sample lecture and some course-related activities and helps them to decide whether that particular course and university is right for them.

Students can also get more detailed information about student life and visualise what their daily life could look like as an Edge Hill student.

These events also help students to feel more comfortable once they start university. If they have attended an offer holder day, students are familiar with the campus, their department building, their lecturers and are likely to see other students they recognise – which really helps ease those first day nerves and kickstart lifelong friendships!

We’ve already been to an open day, why attend an offer holder day?

Open days are great to help students choose where they want to apply, but offer holder days are designed for the next stage deciding where they want to study.

Many supporters find that attending an offer holder day helps them feel more informed, reassured and involved – which is particularly helpful for supporters who haven’t gone to university themselves or have limited experience with the process.

There’s much more focus on giving students the chance to experience student life and they can actually sample a session for their chosen course. We’ll also provide more detailed information for supporters in a dedicated talk.

We understand that attending events can be expensive, so there’s support available with travel costs to help you get here along with free parking on campus and a free bus to and from Ormskirk town centre.

What does an offer holder day look like for a supporter?

For supporters, offer holder days are the perfect opportunity to gain insights, ask questions and feel confident that your student will be in the best possible place to succeed.

On arrival, your student will receive a personalised programme with their subject session time on it. While they enjoy their subject session, you’ll head over to our supporter talk.

This informative talk will cover everything you need to know about the application process (including key dates and deadlines) alongside useful information on student finance, accommodation, support and more. We’ll also talk you through our award-winning campus, how our expert teaching will help your student to reach their goals, the incredible support available, accommodation options and commuting.

We want this session to be as informative as possible for you, so there’s opportunities for supporters to shape what’s covered at our upcoming webinars – which we’d love for you to join.
