Caroline Dyer is a passionate storyteller and the founder of Heard Storytelling, an organisation dedicated to amplifying unheard voices and fostering connection through spoken storytelling. Her work has been recognised with nominations for the Northern PoWEr Women Awards for the ‘Agent of Change’ award. Caroline’s journey began with a volunteering trip to Honduras and has evolved into a platform that brings people together through true stories. Her efforts have been instrumental in creating safe and empowering opportunities for storytelling, aiming to bring communities closer and deepen connections.

Discussion & insight

In response to the divisive events of 2016, including Brexit and Trump’s election, Caroline founded Heard Storytelling, aiming to bridge divides. Tired of online noise, she wanted to create a space for unheard voices and genuine conversations.

Heard Storytelling in a true spoken storytelling organisation that creates positive change. They exist to empower people to tell their own story in their own words to bring communities closer, make businesses better – and ultimately to deepen connections wherever they can.

Caroline understands the art of bringing people together and cultivating authentic connections. Her time with an International NGO sharpened her approach to global challenges, emphasising empathy and clear solutions. For Caroline, storytelling is a tool to unite, inspire, and heal, promoting a connected, empathetic world. Caroline is joining us at Edge Hill University to bring her unique work and experience to support further research in storytelling with children and young people in the Northwest to support their mental health and wellbeing.
