Dance Double Bills

Please join us for two double-bill evenings of new dance performance works created by members of Edge Hill Dance staff in collaboration with the BA (Hons) Dance students.

So, we have…..choreographed by James Hewison and the Second Year Dance students.

A contemporary dance-theatre piece that started with the simple idea that sometimes, despite the chaos of the world, we’re still able to recognise that we have much to be thankful for…..the people, places, and things that can still give us a sense of joy, pleasure and gratitude in what we do have!

Dancers:

Emily Ash, Georgia Blakemore, Niamh Brady, Elsie Brooks, Abigail Calvert, Bailey Griffiths, Jessica Hughes, Jamie Jackson, Lucy Middleton, Katie Mitchell-Cooper.

Radiance Through the Ruins

Inspired by writer and social activist Alice Walker and her work on ‘Hard Times Require Furious Dancing’ we have crafted a full-length dance work that draws on the dancers’ wish list and different cultural approaches to moving and being together. Looking out into the world, we have encountered systems and landscapes in ruins; we have responded with dance, recognising that hope is muscled, treating ruins as, according to Rebecca Solnit, a site for generative possibility.

Choreographic direction: Jessica Clarke, Michelle Man, Louisa Robey in collaboration with the company.

Dance Company:

Amy Challen, Charlotte Eastwood, Ruby Edwards, Jessica Geraghty, Emily Jones, Katie Leneghan, Neve Linaker, Ellie Mason, Charlie-May McDonald, Jennifer Micklethwaite, Freya Owen, Lily Shaw, Emma Vaughan, Katie Vaughan

Thanks also to Jack Elder for your inspiring ideas and energy.
