The online event is the very first from #WECAN Invites, a brand-new monthly guest speaker series highlighting women and businesses leading the way in their field. This inaugural talk takes place on 7 April 2022 12.30pm to 13.30pm, book here.
The #WECAN project, part funded by the European Social Fund with support from the Department of Work and Pensions offers funded support and training to businesses and their women employees to help them progress into, and within, leadership roles.
Each month speakers will be invited to share their knowledge and experiences to bring you inspirational stories, real-life examples and the latest research and development in supporting women in leadership and SMEs, to show you how #WECAN together.
Some of the themes Lynda will touch upon include: the people who have inspired her; the people who have supported her; the barriers she has faced and the lessons she has learned along the way.

Lynda joined Edge Hill University as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience) & University Secretary in April 2014. Her portfolio includes responsibility for ensuring students get the very best experience during their time at university, whether that be studying or having fun.
Before joining Edge Hill, Lynda worked for seven years at Liverpool John Moores University where she was a Principal Lecturer in Law and Head of the Legal Practice Course. She then spent 12 years at the Open University (the OU) in a variety of roles. Between 2005 and 2011 she was Regional Director for the OU in the North West, leading the team responsible for supporting their 25,000 students studying in the region.
From 2011 onwards, Lynda was Director of the Learner Support Service, an institution-wide role with responsibility for a range of information, advice and guidance and operational services to enable more than 200,000 students to achieve their study goals.
This session will benefit anyone who is interested in progression in the workplace: women who want to get on and want to understand more about themselves as a professional; and men who want to support women to get on so we move closer to a more equal society.
It seeks to highlight that many of the career lessons we need to propel us to success can be unearthed from reflecting on the experiences we have already had in our career to date – we just haven’t recognised them along the way.
