Lauren Pendleton-Nash has followed in the footsteps of her mum, Caroline, and grandma, Margaret, in studying at the University.
And Lauren’s younger sister Charlotte will begin her studies at Edge Hill in September, continuing the family tradition.
Caroline will be travelling back from Dubai where she works as an advisor to the government on education to attend Lauren’s graduation.
Lauren, who studied BA(Hons) Sports Management & Coaching, said: “I grew up in Singapore so I was always abroad and I came back one Christmas before applying to university to have a look around the campus.
“It had changed so much from when my mum was here, and it was the campus that really pushed me to come to Edge Hill.
“My grandma and my mum have been such inspirations to me and it means a lot that we’ve all shared the experience of studying at the same university.”
After graduating, Lauren will be reuniting with her mum and moving to Dubai where she has got a job working as a football coach in schools.
Caroline said: “People usually go away to university but Lauren actually came home.
“The campus has changed so much over the years. I remember going with my mum to pick up her results and it was all parquet floors and dark wood.
“The way it looks now is unrecognisable.”
Caroline graduated in 2005 after studying BA (Hons) Children’s Development and Learning with QTS and in 2017, completed her MA Education (Educational Leadership) degree.
She added: “I’m incredibly proud that Lauren has continued the family tradition and that Charlotte will be next to follow in our footsteps.
“Edge Hill hold a special place in my heart, and I know it does for my mum as well. “It’s a legacy for us.”
“I always said to Lauren and Charlotte that it’s an amazing place. A lot of other universities are really fragmented and they don’t have the campus experience you get at Edge Hill.
“My studies have set me on a successful path in terms of my career and I know they will do the same for Lauren and Charlotte.”
Grandma Margaret studied History and Communications at Edge Hill.
She said: “I’m so proud of Lauren, Caroline and Charlotte.
“My time at university was fabulous.
“I live in Ormskirk so I’m always popping over to campus. The way Edge Hill has developed over the years has been amazing.”
Charlotte will be studying BA (Hons) Secondary English Education with QTS.
She added: “I’m very excited to start in September. The campus is beautiful and I’m going to become part of the family legacy.
“All my family has had such great things to say about studying there and I can’t wait to get started.”
