Postgraduate Research

Edge Hill University is home to a thriving research culture and offers a range of research degrees, from an MRes programme to PhDs and Professional Doctorates.

Studying a Masters by Research (MRes) degree enables you to gain specialist knowledge in a subject area of interest. This innovative qualification provides a short and intensive research experience, centred on independent study, which is underpinned by the development of research knowledge, as well as skills relevant to the discipline being studied.

Completing an MRes is ideal preparation for studying a PhD or Professional Doctorate where you can make a major and original contribution to knowledge or create knowledge that advances professional practice.

Facilities

Departmental facilities for each subject area are complemented by the University library in the £26m Catalyst building.

The library stocks around 200,000 items, including books, journals, e-resources and multimedia. In addition, you can access PCs, laptops, software and assistive technologies.

Extensive social learning areas and study spaces enable group discussion, quiet work and silent study, with dedicated support available for students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).
