Arts and culture

University is a place to learn. But it’s also a place to live and belong. Make the most of it and discover our creative community. Create and harness your knowledge beyond the classroom.

A student playing guitar performs at the open mic night in the Arts Centre.

Boasting two theatres, The Arts Centre offers a year-round programme full of diverse and inspirational performances.

If you fancy a bite to eat or drink, The Red Bar has plenty of options. It’s well known around campus for the tasty pizzas and milkshakes, and if you’re lucky you could be treated to an impromptu piano performance or other live performance as students practice their work in the space too.

Inspire minds and change futures

Two students chat in the foyer outside the Studio Theatre in the Performing Arts building.

Talent comes in all different forms. We love to explore the diverse talent we have here in our Edge Hill community. That’s why we offer opportunities for our students to showcase their passion.

Come along and show off your creative flair at our open mic nights, or student talent nights.

And if you’ve already graduated, we support our recent graduates in showcasing their work too.

Get inspired

It’s not just about inspiring others. You might want some inspiration yourself. Or you are looking for some evening entertainment after a long day.

We’ve got plenty of great free events for you to attend. When we said talent comes in all forms, we meant it. Our events are diverse.

One night it might be your favourite film on, a musical, a dance show, or a whole lot of theatrical goodness. Challenge your brain in a quiz. Or if comedy is more your thing, we’ve got you covered, with our regular comedy nights featuring familiar TV stars.

Free film Fridays

If we caught your attention with films, then you will be glad to hear we host recent cinema releases every Friday.

Get your film fix during term time at 7pm on Fridays. If free films sound good, become a member of The Arts Centre and help yourself to a free popcorn too.

Join the Free Film Fridays Facebook group to find out which films are coming up.

Opportunities for you

We believe in your potential to make a difference. That’s why we surround you with opportunities to transform your university life.

We are proud to collaborate with a range of external partners across the cultural industries and the creative and digital economy in the North West, and nationally.
