We offer impartial information, advice and guidance on a range of topics relating to University and the Higher Education process. Speaking to a range of universities is an invaluable experience for students as it enables them to develop a more in–depth understanding of the variety of institutions and courses available to them.

We offer a provision of workshops, talks or event attendance within your school or college as well as welcoming groups of students onto campus, either as part of their Higher Education preparation, for Subject Taster Days and other opportunities.

Pre Application Process

Introduction to Higher Education

A presentation that explores the benefits of Higher Education, choosing a course and university as well as introducing students to the concept of studying at University.

Why Edge Hill

A presentation that introduces prospective students to Edge Hill University, exploring the courses available, campus and facilities, accommodation, student life as well as Ormskirk and the surrounding area, plus what makes Edge Hill University unique.

Introduction to Subjects

A presentation which introduces students to a specific field of study within the university. Students explore the faculty, related courses and the entry requirements. Students will also explore unique course features and information about applying to the subject. Study Skills

An Interactive workshop that helps students develop their independent study skills. Students explore study techniques and tips, look at plagiarism and referencing work from original sources.

An Interactive workshop that helps students understand what skills they do well or need to improve on. Students work in groups to create a society which they have to pitch back to the Students Union.

Preparing for a UCAS Fair

A 30 minute presentation that introduces students to what a UCAS fair is and how to make the most of the experience. Students are also guided through a tailored checklist resource that they can take with them on the day.

Application Process

Introduction to UCAS

A presentation that explores the UCAS process for students from start to finish. The session goes through the sections students need to complete and what happens after they click submit.

Personal Statements

Can be delivered as either a presentation or as an interactive workshop. Students work through example personal statements and learn how to write their own personal statement.

Applying to High Demand Courses

A presentation that explores the application process for high demand courses at university. Students will look at why there are high demand from applicants and also receive hints and tips to help with their application.

Interview Skills

A presentation providing advice and guidance on the interview process for universities, jobs and/or apprenticeships. It includes what students should focus on pre, during and post interview.

These can be provided as part of a Year 12 or Year 13 Interview day to help build key transferable interview skills.

A presentation that explores the opportunities students can approach to enhance their employability prospects, before during and after their degree course. The presentation is also tailored to explore employment areas within your local region.

A presentation that explores the Student Finance system. Students are introduced to the facts and figures and receive information on repayments.

An interactive workshop that advises students on how to budget for and during university. Students will compete in a game aiming to manage and budget money over a number of scenarios.

HE Events

HE & Careers Fairs

The Education Liaison and Events Team, along with recruited and trained Student Ambassadors, are able to attend a range of daytime and twilight events organised by individual schools and colleges such as HE, Careers Fairs and Open Evenings. We are able to offer information on our course provision, entry requirements and the student experience. We aim to fulfill all requests received, however bookings will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability.

UCAS Exhibitions

The team attend all of the UCAS exhibitions held across England, Wales and Northern Ireland plus two in Scotland throughout the year, giving you plenty of opportunity to meet us and ask questions about our award-winning campus and courses. These occasions provide a great opportunity to pick up a prospectus and chat informally to expert representatives from the University including our Student Ambassadors who can offer an insight into university life and the student experience. Alongside the general UCAS Exhibitions, the University also attend a number of UK University Search and WhatCareer Live events across the country throughout the year.
