New Parents, Physical Activity and Mental Health Survey

This is a UK wide survey for parents and baby/parent group and physical activity providers. We want to develop knowledge about physical activity through transitions into parenthood and physical activity for self-care for any perinatal mental health problems.

This project is being carried out by researchers at Edge Hill University. Dr Emily Lovett is the principal researcher. We would like to hear from:

  • Parents of babies and children up to the age of 4 years about your engagement with physical activity, how your level of activity makes your feel, what you think about the opportunities there are for you to be active and what would improve things for you
  • Parents who use physical activity to manage any perinatal mental health problems or those who have been advised to do so but struggle with this
  • Parent group and physical activity providers with an interest in parents as a participant group.

Our aim is that the findings from this nation-wide study can be used to inform practice and develop provision for this population group.
