Degrees in the Social Sciences are well established at Edge Hill University with experienced and enthusiastic academic staff and more than 400 students.
We aim to give students an engaging and stimulating experience whilst recognising that sometimes students need more than just excellent teachers and researchers and need support and help.
The team of Social Scientists prides itself on the quality of its research informed teaching, focus on employability and tutorial support. All students are allocated a personal tutor, whilst each degree route also has a designated course leader and module leader. A recent external examiners report stated that “The lecturers know the students personally in a way that is exemplary and I fear increasingly unusual in UK Higher Education.”
We care about our students and want to get to know them and for them to get to know us. We want our students to become independent and confident learners during their time with us and we set high standards for the work that we require from our undergraduates. A choice to study the Social Sciences at Edge Hill is a choice for a high quality, cutting edge and vocationally relevant undergraduate experience.
We offer undergraduate degrees in Early Childhood Studies, Childhood and Youth Studies and Sociology as well as a number of joint degree programmes.
