As part of our Social Sciences second and third year employability modules, we welcomed an impressive array of speakers to talk to the students about their work in organisations as diverse as private day nurseries, local high schools, Social Services and Lancashire Police.

The students set the agenda in terms of what careers they were interested in and, as a result of these talks, some students were also able to obtain work-based learning placements. The speakers gave honest descriptions of their work, before taking part in a question and answer session.

“I found it really useful to hear about different careers and it’s made me think more about what I want to do when I finish my degree.”

Hannah Carabine, second year student
