Time is running out for students from the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland to apply for settled or pre-settled status.

If you are planning on studying and living in the UK after 30 June 2021, you need to make sure you have applied for the EU Settlement Scheme.

The EU Settlement scheme is a simple and free online application process open to all EEA/Swiss nationals and their family members. You do not need to apply if you are an Irish national.

Even if you started your studies before Brexit, you still need to apply for settled or pre-settled status.

The deadline to submit your application is 30 June 2021 and you will need to have been living in the UK by 11pm on the 31 December 2020.

If you do not apply for settled or pre-settled status by the deadline, you may not be able to enrol and will have to return to your home nation to apply for a student visa before returning.

How do I apply?

You can apply here

You will need:
• your passport or national ID card or biometric residence permit for family members
• access to an android device or an iPhone 7 or above
proof of residence or a National Insurance Number

Pre-settled and settled status – what’s the difference?

You can apply for settled or pre-settled status.

Settled status is given to those who have been residing in the UK for 5 years.

Pre-settled status is given to those who have been in the UK for less than 5 years. Once you have been here for 5 years you can then receive settled status.

How do I prove that I have applied?

You will need to get your online-status-check code.

Select the other/something else option, not the right-to-work or rent options.

Then send the code and your date of birth to visas@edgehill.ac.uk from your student email. We cannot accept screenshots of your status or the UKVI confirmation letter.
