The Department of Psychology is proactive in developing new approaches for supporting our students. Some of the ways we are integrating a support structure, particularly for fostering peer support among our students, is through our Integrated Learning Communities (ILC) scheme. This involves all our students entering their course within a small cluster of fellow students. each cluster is supported by two academic tutors which operate as Personal Tutors to their cluster. This is designed to help our students feel a sense of community, integration, and belonging within their course
A further benefit of the ILC structure is it can provide a framework to implement our Progressive Peer Coaching (PPC) scheme. This entails students to operate as peer mentors/role models for students in other cohorts within their cluster whereby a fully integrated support system is upheld.
