I’m really happy because I’ve been offered a job at my second placement school and am looking forward to teaching my pupils again next year.

“I chose Edge Hill University because friends who had studied here recommended it for its forward-thinking and personalised support, with staff who are approachable and show a genuine interest in you.

I had always wanted to work in a setting that empowers and educates individuals, with my role as a support worker, combined with time spent as a second language teacher in Hong Kong, really confirming that I wanted to teach. My experience of working and travelling abroad furthered my passion in Geography and made it the obvious subject to choose for my PGCE.

A particular highlight of the course has been the school placements and I have absolutely loved the experiences I have had.  During these I have been involved in classes containing children who are gifted and talented, pupils who have special educational needs, children with English as an additional language and those who have displayed challenging behaviour.

There is no doubt that gaining first-hand experience in the classroom from the start of the course is beneficial and my advice to anyone would be to ensure you get really involved. This practical training also allows you to build up your confidence in the classroom so you become fully prepared for your role as a teacher.

I’m really happy because I’ve been offered a job at my second placement school and am looking forward to teaching my pupils again next year.

Before I start this I am heading to the North East of India for the entire summer as I have secured a role working with pupils of different ages in a number of schools. I truly believe none of this would have been possible without the excellent training I received from Edge Hill.”
