The course gives you so many opportunities, enabling you to push yourself harder than you thought possible and make you the best performer you can be.
“I was first attracted to this course by the aerial module, but it was when I came for an open day that I thought, “Wow! This is where I want to go”. The Arts Centre is almost futuristic, it’s very modern with great studio spaces. I also loved the green campus which is very refreshing compared to city universities.
The whole course has been really inspirational. The lecturers are experts in their fields and many have won awards. Each has different qualities but all have your back and are always there to help you.
The professional choreographers who lead our ‘intensive’ dance pieces are very good. It is incredible to work with minds that produce such inspirational work, and who will be great contacts when I graduate. There are so many creative, outgoing people here.
I really enjoy the mix of dance and drama on this degree, as well as how the practical is combined with the theoretical. The theory side of dance gives you an image in your head of what forms should be and what you should be aiming for in the physical aspect. It’s similar on the drama side, where we look at the historical background to a piece.
Being a part of EdgeFWD, the university’s all-male dance company, has been an overwhelming experience for me. No one is set apart and instead we work together. It’s a really nice vibe. We’re going to be performing at Sound City and LEAP this year which will really get us out there in front of big audiences, exactly what we’ll be doing when we graduate. I’d advise anyone coming here to join as soon as you can.
Before I came here I expected lots of good, hard work and that’s definitely what I’ve got. The course gives you so many opportunities, enabling you to push yourself harder than you thought possible and make you the best performer you can be.”
