The tutors guide you along to keep you on track and I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for me.

“After gaining a first class honours degree at Edge Hill University in Physical Education and School Sport I decided to pursue my lifelong ambition of becoming a PE teacher. Sport has always been a big part of my life and I want to influence younger generations and give them the opportunities I had.

As part of the PGCE we have taken part in a wide variety of practical activities such as residential trips, coaching courses, workshops, day trips, mock interviews and, most importantly, placements.

I have learnt so much from both of my placements as they give you an opportunity to carry out the things you have learnt from your tutors. They also enable you to develop your behaviour management and lesson planning skills, as well as provide you with the ability to create resources for a variety of different sports.

During my placements I learnt how to follow procedures and establish good relationships with other teachers and pupils. They really have been excellent and tailored towards my needs, enabling me to advance my teaching abilities significantly since the beginning of the course.

Overall, I’d say the best thing about the course is the level of support that you are given. Through the support provided by tutors at Edge Hill, my visiting tutor and partnership trainer at school, I have the confidence in the classroom to try out the new things I am learning.

I really can’t praise the staff enough for the support they give because although very rewarding it is also an intense year, but completely worth it to finish with excellent grades and a job. The tutors guide you along to keep you on track and I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for me.”
