“I like Edge Hill University as I feel it is multicultural and diverse as well as really close to the two great cities of Liverpool and Manchester.

A real plus point for me is that the BA (Hons) Social Work degree allows lots of interaction between the students and tutors, both academically and personally. We are also given excellent course materials, get to meet service users and attend talks from professionals in the field, which is both interesting and helpful.

I came to the course with previous knowledge of the health model and so it has been good to use that experience and gain a deeper understanding. Looking back, it was made clear to us from the start that this course was going to be hard and very emotional. That has been true, but there is no doubt that by the end you have definitely matured as a person in so many ways.

This course has really opened my eyes to what I want to do when I graduate and I’m hoping to work with older adults and maybe even run my own nursing home eventually – one with a modern approach where people can still live independently. The other area that interests me is working with soldiers’ families, as my husband is in the armed forces and I think this would enable me to experience social work in a completely different, interesting and worthwhile way.”
