BA (Hons) Criminology and Sociology

By studying two different subjects together I feel I have expanded my career options, whilst learning a wider variety of topics keeps me intrigued and motivated.

“At Edge Hill everything you need is on one campus which makes the University very friendly and accessible.

I studied Sociology at college and really enjoyed it and so decided to pursue it at degree level. I felt, though, that I wanted to add something new so decided on Criminology, as the areas covered seemed really interesting.

By studying two different subjects together I feel I have expanded my career options, whilst learning a wider variety of topics keeps me intrigued and motivated. Having said that, the challenge of studying two subjects is that it creates more work! You can though, to a certain extent, choose which topics you study which helps you to personalise your overall learning experience.

On this degree you also get to develop your skills through a variety of assessment styles, such as essays, exams, presentations and even running your own seminar session, which helps you to realise your full potential.

Overall, I have found my studies at Edge Hill to be outstanding, the tutors are approachable and helpful, the course is run smoothly and assessments are always made clear. The tutors have all been very supportive during my time here, particularly during my final year, going above and beyond their duties, both academically and personally, and I am really grateful to them.”
