“I think it’s important that you take advantage of the time that you have in the UK by going to as many places as you can. This country has so much to offer, from coast to coast there is something for everyone to enjoy.”

“I’d travelled to the UK several times previously, particularly to the north and, from the cities to the countryside, it really is a beautiful place and quite unlike anything back home in America.

I decided that coming to England to study would offer me many cultural experiences that lots of people my age in the USA simply won’t have. I chose Edge Hill because I didn’t want to be in the middle of a big city and it was also in an area that I’m familiar with. I have friends nearby, which I knew would help to make it a ‘home from home’, and then, when I came to the open day, I made up my mind because the place looked just great.

It’s been pretty easy for me to settle into life in the UK because I’ve been here so many times before. When I arrived I already knew a lot of the colloquialisms, knew how to get around and was familiar with the currency, so it was all about settling back into a routine I already knew. The only real difference was the fact that I’m now staying here for longer than I ever have before at any one time.

Even though I’ve found settling here no problem it’s good to know that there is always support at hand at Edge Hill should you need it. The tutors are really helpful, they constantly encourage creativity and are readily available at all times. I’ve found that if I ever have needed anything they are always willing to answer questions and will do all they can to help.

I suppose my favourite aspect of life over here is living somewhere so pleasant yet having access to two big cities for shopping, going out on the town and sightseeing. On top of that, there are loads of places full of culture and history not far away at all by train or bus, so there is always somewhere to go and something to do. I think it’s important that you take advantage of the time that you have in the UK by going to as many places as you can. This country has so much to offer, from coast to coast there is something for everyone to enjoy.

I’m really enjoying my course and my goal now is to become the best writer I can be and create stories that inspire creativity in other people.”
